Storm Hero installed a new roof in Loganville, GA. Take notice of the 6 turtle vent holes along the top of the roof. These vents were previously used to help the attic breathe. Our roofers replaced all these turtle vents with ridge vent (a code upgrade) that sits along the peak of the roof. This ridge vent ventilates your attic and is superior to turtle vents because it has fewer moving parts, requires no power, and is less susceptible to hail.

These photos also feature the Rhino synthetic underlayment along the decking in place of traditional 15lb felt paper. Rhino synthetic underlayment is a layer of absorbent material that lays beneath the shingles. It acts as an extra barrier against moisture. Rhino will provide 25x more absorption than felt and keeps the decking dry in the event that water penetrates the shingles.

Storm Hero Roofing installed a new roof through insurance in Conyers, GA. Rockdale county. The homeowner reported leaks in multiple locations. A Storm Hero licensed contractor inspected the roof and found soft decking and wind damage. 

When the roof was opened up on the day of installation, wood rot was founded in many places along the decking. Storm Hero replaces all wood rot before installing the shingles. Most insurance companies do not cover wood rot and as a result, many roofer skip this step.

Storm Hero installed another new roof this week in Monroe, GA. Walton County. Due to the steep nature of this roof’s valleys, ice & water shield was needed. The ice & water shield is visible in the featured photos.

Ever seen wind damage on a shingle? This is what is looks like. Storm Hero Roofing restored a wind damaged roof in Snellville, GA. Gwinnett County.

Over time, the elements break down the adhesive that holds down your shingle. This causes it to lift when gusts of wind barrage your roof. Moisture gets under the shingle and begins to break it down. Wind damage is identified where the shingle lifts completely and “flaps” back and forth, causing the shingle to crease. Wind damage is covered by most homeowner’s policy.

The photos here show the roof skinned and rolled with synthetic underlayment. This underlayment is stretchy and 25x stronger than traditional felt paper. It will provide an extra dry barrier between the roof decking and the shingle.
